  2. Atlanta- Wont even stay in Atlanta will move

    Boston-Next 5 years

    Tampa-Next 3 years or so

Toronto-Next year then the year after then the year after again

    Vancouver-Thats gotta b a joke

washington-10 years after ovechking contracts over

  3. ATL - Train Wreck, Fold the team or at least move them

Bos - Maybe a Eastern Conference Finals in the next 2 years or so but Never a cup berth

Buf - They could be a surprise team in the next few years but i'm sure they will never win the big one

Cal - Game 6 04' Finals, opportunity past and went, like Boston I can vision them making a Conference Finals in the next few years, this is a team I can see actually beating Detroit in a playoff series.

Chi - I'll give them 3 years , playoff next year, deep run the next and ??? maybe

Col - lost cause, Brule for Torres?

LA - trendy team that gets hot but never has been a contender

NYI - Garth Snow as run out Neil Smith and Ted Nolan who is next

OTT - Opportunity has came and went, I see this team soon to be golfing after 82

PHO - A surprise team, playoff next year but just not enough to be a cup team, maybe a few 2nd rounders

TB - Wow a glorified 3rd liner is your savior (Malone) good thing they play in the woeful  Southeast, playoff appearances but never a deep run

Tor - This team could get hot but too many over paid free agents

Van - in a recession could make the playoffs based on #1 between the pipes but a cup run

Was - The only legitimate team of these to be a contender, would have like to see Huet resigned but maybe Jose can catch lighting in a bottle but probably not, need to get a premier goalie

  4. The only ones I can comment on are Buffalo, Columbus, LA, Phoenix, and Toronto.

Buffalo a new owner might change things. Regier tries but without $$'s it's impossible.

Columbus. Not likely ever. The novelty will wear off and the team will move when Rick goes home. See below.

LA. never too many first draft picks and nothing to show for them. Empty rinks will cause them to leave.

Phoenix. Not before they move to somewhere where the fans have seen snow.

Toronto 2011 They will grow in stature in the next two years until Ricky is a free agent. He will come to Toronto and captain the Leafs to the first of his many cups.

EDIT :..... BTW Wings Fan a light year is a measure of distance don't display your ignorance by confusing it with a measure of time.

  5. Atlanta-never will in this decade

    Boston- probably in 09-2010

Buffalo-well, probably in the next decade

    Calgary- this year's underdog

Chicago- only if the fans support them

    Columbus- not in 2 decades

    LA- never

    NY Islanders-never

    Ottawa-most likely

    Phoenix- 6 seasons

    Tampa-within reach

    Toronto-another season

    Vancouver-3 seasons

    Washington-close like the lightning

  6. The following teams fall in the Don't Make Me Laugh catagory:

    Atlanta

    Boston

    Columbus

    LA

    Islanders

    Ottawa

    Phoenix

    Tampa

    Toronto

    Vancouver

-Calgary looks decent but need to get everyone playing their A game for about 100 games.  That's not gonna happen.

-Chicago made significant steps to improving their team but need just a little bit more to get through the West.

-If Washington can get some good defense going in front of Theodore, they could have a legitimate shot out of the East.

  7. team and if they do EVERYTHING right how soon can they win it.

Atlanta-team of washed up bums with kovi and a good goalie atleast 4 years.

Boston have some solid players they showed in lastyears playoffs they can play with Mtl 2 years they need more solid players and atleast another D other then chara

Buffalo Never. before they can get a good team thier old good players whos contracts end will leave creating a cycle of never really having a cup winning team.

Cal maybe in the next 2 years they got Iginla and great supporting cast. with solid goaltending they can strike at anytime. BUT detroit is waiting for them.

Chi is has an amazing up and coming team so they could be 2 to 3 years away from having a stacked team STACKED.

Col. are BUMs they cant even make the playoffs nvm the cup it wil take em another 3 years to get to the playoffs.

LA. is tricky they got good players but No goalie and D is very shacky maybe 4 years they can have a good team.

NYI as soon as garth snow leaves as the GM they can make some progress.

Ottawa might get thier "stuff" together and win next year they are stacked. Spezza needs to take a leadership possition Alfy needs tobe replaced.

Phoe. might make a push for the playoffs this season but still need more good players they got a great goalie Doan isnt captain meterial. 3 years the earliest

Tampa might be able to compete by the 2010 season for sure once stamkos sets in.

Toronto my home team might be able to compete in 2 to 3 years they need to sign some star players first and develope thier crappy picks.

Van is hopeless like buffalo & cbj they got a clown GM

Washing can win the 2010 cup.

i gave u the amount of time these guys can win the cup or make a solid run for it if they do everything right and thats almost never the case. but if they do those are the periods.

  8. Atlanta- Light Years

    Boston- About 8 years

    Buffalo- 8 years

    Calgary-  5-6 years

    Chicago- 4-5 years

    Columbus- 8 years

    LA- Light years

    NY Islanders- Light years

    Ottawa- never

    Phoenix- 5-6 years

    Tampa- 5-years

    Toronto- 18-20 years

    Vancouver- 10 years

    Washington- 4-5 years

EDIT...Oh Tom you silly goose...The question clearly stated "how FAR away", which gives me the impression that I can use both time AND distance in my answer, which I did. And don't display YOUR ignorance by calling me out in a question, because I am a jackass, and I will tell you how it is no matter how old you are. And also, your ignorance was displayed very nicely in your statement:

"Phoenix. Not before they move to somewhere where the fans have seen snow."

Ignorant statement because...For one, there are mountains near Phoenix that get snow, and secondly, Anaheim, Dallas, Carolina, and Tampa, none of which get snow, have each won a Cup. Lack of snow does NOT make a team less likely to win a Cup.
