How far away should i mount my projector?

I'm setting up my home theater room, and I have a projector that will be mounted on the ceiling, and my screen is a 120 inch screen. I don't know how far I should mount the projector! Can anybody help me out? The manual is extremely confusing and has so many different measurements, I would like to know if there is a general rule or ratio. Please help, we are trying to install everything today!

there is no general rule since the projectors have different manufacturers and different lenses so the distance are differents but i bet the distance is like 13-14 ft, it should be in the projectors manual not confusing at all because is only a chart, i would like to help you more but i don't understand why you don't post your projector model !!!

fill in the diagonal screen size in the slider or in the box(120")

fill the aspect ratio of the screen 4:3 or 16:9
