When a celebrity is in a photoshoot, it seems as though the cameras flash brightly, yet their pictures never show them blinking.

so how far away are cameras when they take there shots?

it's just i hope to do photoshoots one day, but I blink real easily...

  1. well usually there's not a typical flash attached to the camera like something you would see on a basic camera you buy at the store, they use overall lighting so it's bright the whole time (it's large independent lights off to the side). or if they do use the flash, they take multiple takes so there's bound to be one good one!

  2. How far away they are depends on a number of things. The background and scene, the lighting used, and the lens to get the look you want. Moving further away is another way to increase bokeh Shallow depth of field can be created by using larger aperatures, lens focal length and changing the distance from the camera. Portions of all of these can be used together. As to the person not flashing the overall ambient light certainly effects it but so does using devces like umbrellas and soft boxes to modify the light. The angle of the light can also help shooting from above the model and off at an angle to the side for the key light

  3. The cameras could be like from 2 to 30 feet depending on the lens and what perspective the photographer is trying to accomplish

  4. The photographer isn't going to publish the pieces where the person is blinking (unless it contributes to the story), they will choose the ones that look best!

Photographers don't usually use on camera flashes in the studio, unless it is placed on a light stand. They will use multiple strobes around the person. Many shots are taken during a photoshoot.  Generally, the camera is about 5-10 feet away.

On camera flashes are usually used for editorial pieces. Photographers will often shoot in continuous mode, ending up with many photographs, hoping that atleast one of them looks good. In this case, the photographer tries to get as close as he or she can to the person.

  5. The photographers are as close as they can get to the celebrity.  They would be using an off camera strobe mounted on a flash bracket that puts the flash off to one side of the camera and above the lens.  And yes- they will take as many shots as they can get off- a couple of them just might be good enough for a photo editor to see and publish.
