I am getting bored with walking and it barely tires my Labrador Retriever out. How far could a 4 year old 60 pound Lab run? The trail i'm taking is 3 miles. Would it hurt her?

  1. Depends on how fit she is. Start small, watch her. If she looks tired stop. Take some water with you so you can stop and give her a rest if she needs it, before making your way home.

  2. Be REAL careful when you do this because it's very easy for the dog to get run over this way. Labs aren't known to be running dogs or for their coordination so just take it easy.   I'd say to try it for about a half mile the first time and then work your way up but go slow at first.  Another good thing to do with your dog is to roller blade.  It's AWESOME!!!

  3. Don't take it three miles. Maybe a mile, but ride slowly. And you're going to need to train her for riding with you first. If she knows signals beforehand, such as, "Slow, halt, run, left, right," then all the better. Personally, I don't recommend bike riding, as you could get really hurt if something goes wrong. Maybe try roller blading with her or skateboarding instead.
