I am driving from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Orlando, Florida, USA and I am trying to estimate how many times I will have to refill the tank and how much my fuel for the trip will cost me.

  1. The biggest influence on fuel economy is the touch you apply to the gas pedal...If you feel that you have to beat everybody across the intersection or that you have to blow everybody off the interstate, your fuel consumption is going to be much higher.

When I am on a long haul, I make the half full mark on the fuel gage as my refueling point...When I get close to that mark, I start looking around for a place to fill up as well as maybe use a restroom, grab a snack, get something to drink and otherwise just get out and stretch...A couple other tips - give yourself enough time to get there, don't drive at night and if you ever feel tired, pull off the road and just close the eyes for a few minutes...Finally, make sure you have your route mapped and written out ahead of time - do not use a GPS device unless you have someone with you who knows how to use and read it.

    All the best.

  2. It depends on which minivan first of all ( Astro, Lumina, Uplander, etc. ) and which V6 motor you have.

Other factors such as vehicle speed, amount of passengers and luggage ( weight ), etc will also vary the fuel used.

Don't forget the varying fuel prices as you pass through the various states and province.

In other words, no one can accurately answer your question as asked

  3. If its a venture(3.4v6);8.7L/100km hwy.

    uplander(3.9v6);10.5L/100km hwy.

    astro(4.3v6);11L/100km hwy.

decent considering my Mazda MPV(2.5v6)gets about 9.9hwy,13.6city

  4. I have a mini van i get 30 miles per gallon depends on the weather and what you hauling?

  5. Check out http://www.fueleconomy.org to get the estimated fuel economy (both from the government and real drivers who have posted their milage) for your exact make/model van.  They also link to a couple sites (AAA, for one) that can give you average gas prices for each state.  The last variable is the size of your gas tank, which can probably be found in your car's manual, or through an internet search for specs on your car.

Then you just multiply the tank size by average MPG, and after mapping the route, find out how much gas is where you stop.  Add up all the projected stops along the route to get how much you will spend.
