Does anybody know how far Olympic swimmers swim daily when they are training or swimmers who compete at a high national level? Is it about 5000m a day?

  1. It depends on what their form stroke and events are aswell as if they r on taper or not nd different days they do diff things like long distance sprints and stuff so it could change from 4k to 8k nd they run and bike and do a lot of dryland aswell.

The coach changes it for the swimmer so they improve because every1s different with their training

  2. I know that Ryan Lochte swims at LEAST 8000m a practice, and he doubles a lot.

  3. I dont know, but I am sure it is more than 5000m a day. Since the college womens team in my area(I have seen them train for like 6 years) Swim twice a day, over 5000m, plus weights and stuff.

  4. Olympic swimmers train different amounts depending on where they are in their season.  A typical week for Michael Phelps can have him swimming between 10,000 meters and 19,000 meters a day.  That is about 6-10 miles a day!!  Even during the Olympics between warm-up for each race, his events, and warm-down, he may swim over 5,000 meters.

You can find sample workouts of Michael Phelps on his club website below.

  5. I am a competetive swimmer i'll tell you we swim twice a day +gym 3 days a week and running is a must in those gym days and it always pass the 5km range except for the sprints day 1 day is off and this is the swimmer's week :P

  6. It's a lot more than 5,000m per day. Every swimmer has their own schedule that varies a little bit. On my team I swim about 6,000 yards per day which is about 5,400 meters.
