How far do the Olympians have to bike?

How far do the men Olympic bikers have to bike, and in what time limit? I was wondering because i am a pretty serious biker and i wanted to know if i should try to go to the 2012 olympics

  1. The road race is 150 miles and on the velodrome it ranges from sprints of a few laps up to the Madison which can be 100 laps of the track and the points race wich is 160 laps (40 km).


  2. Being you are interested you need to find out if competing is for you. Find out about some local races and enter them, watching them on TV or in person does not give an indication of the commitment involved to get to this level. So enter a few races and see if you enjoy it. Now comes the bad part, 2012 is only 4 years away unless your name is Lance or have been racing at national level events you likely won't be ready by 2012, sorry, but the sooner you get into racing the better idea you'll have about the amount of commitment it takes to get to the elite levels of cycling. 2016 perhaps?
