How far do you drive to work?

Question

Hi everbody. I'm doing a report on urban sprawl that is due on Monday. My question is how many miles do you drive to get to work, and how long does it take you, and do you live in a large or small city? I live in the 4th largest city in the US, but would like to hear from people in other countries also. Thank you.

I live in a relatively small city, so I can bike 2 miles to school.  It is great!  I used to drive for about 45 minutes (15 miles) at my old school in salt lake city.

I live in a small town (about 7,000 people) between Ann Arbor, MI and Flint, MI. My drive to work is 55 miles, and it takes me between 45 mins to 1 hour. But, I usually leave at 4:00 AM so I miss rush hour traffic.

Though, if we get a hard snow like we did last year, it can take me up to three hours to get to work.

I drove a meager 23 miles to work last summer. It was suburb-to-suburb instead of suburb-to-downtown, so I guess it wasn't that bad. It was about 20 miles of freeway and 3 miles of surface streets. It took about 40 minutes in the morning, and an hour in the evening. I live in the 13th largest metropolitan area in the US (large city).

From Whittier,Ca to Santa Monica,Ca  34miles one way.  Depending on time of day it could take up tp 1 1/2hrs to 2 hrs. in the morning and evening rush hrs.  I'm lucky. I work off hrs and I travel opposite of traffic.  At 10pm, depending on traffic conditions, I've made it to work in less than a half hour... :)

i live in singapore a very small countries . it take half an hr to drive if i take train about one hr.

one way commute from the village I live in to medium sized city is 20 minutes each way--approximately 13 miles.

I live in the 3rd largest city in CA... San Jose (aka part of Silicon Valley) and I currently work from home because my company is based out of San Diego so my commute is LOW.

When I did commute locally at my previous company for the last 3 years, I drove about 20 miles EACH way.

I drive 11.6 miles and it takes me about 30 minutes. I live in cleveland so I guess thats a large city.

i drive 1.2 miles to work and 1.2 miles back

I drive less than a mile to the train station and then it's 50 miles on the train to NYC

I live in Riverside California, and I drive about .25 miles to get to my work. Takes me about 1 minute, unless there's a traffic pulling out of my apartment complex, because I have to make a left, and there's no light.
