You are unlikely to see a black sheep without looking very hard.

There are about 24 commercial breeds of sheep in NZ and they are all naturally white, but occasionally, perhaps 1 lamb in 1500 will be born black. Most black lambs end up as kids' pets.

The nearest flock of black sheep (or "coloured" sheep as the correct term is) Chch that I know of is the Herbert Historical Flock in North otago.
