  1. There is evidence that being that close to such high voltage AC could created problems.  The proof is simple.  Hold a Neon bulb in your hand and see if it lights up.  If so, you are being radiated with low level RF.

If YOU light up, put your affairs in order...

  2. There are few thoughts on this and it often comes up on Yahoo answers. Because of this you will only get opinion although maybe it should be called Yahoo Opinions anyway.

Its not the voltage that is thought may cause problems, its the magnetic field caused by the current and some people have felt it has led to cancer in young children. I have personally avoided such circumstances because I don't see that saving the money I would save in such a property would be enough for me to have to explain to my children why they cannot go and do the things the other kids do when they are sick.

The distance away from the line is a large factor too as the magnetic field drops off drastically as you get further away. The exposure time is also a factor.

With all the difference of opinion and differences in the factors, there is not a straight answer except if you don't like it, then don't stay there.

Another interesting thing on the same subject is that of MRI scans. MRI's are now being linked with cancer yet when they came out, they were this great alternative to X Rays that had no side affects. Good ole magnetics.
