Question:

How far down into the earth, how far out into space, are life forms found?

Am watching the "Blue Planet", on Animal Planet. Life forms in the ocean depths and even on the bottom, are being shown.

And am wondering, how far down into the earth, and how far out into space, have any kind of life forms been found?

If you know, please be specific in terms of ultimate distance they can be found, and by what biological(?) mechanism do they employ to maintain and sustain their life?

Thanks,

Alberich

  1. They've found bacteria over a mile below the ocean floor that eats rock. They discovered it by taking core samples.

  2. there's three main layer in earth. It's is core, mantle and crust. Core is the deepest layer in earth and located in the middle of the earth. core got two layers that is inner core and outer core. The depth of inner core is about 5000 to 6380km from earh surface and the outer core is about 2900 km to 5600 km from surface. The mantle depth is about 2900km. It's also got two layers, mantle and upper mantle. Then the last one is the crust. Crust is also got two layer, Sial and Sima. Sial is lower crust, most of ocean continent is Sial and Sima is upper crust that's mean is our earth surface. Sial's depth is about 20 to 70km while Sima's depth is about 5 to 10 km. There's only got plate tectonic's activities down into earth.

And out far into space, there's a more than 500 billion galaxies in space. Galaxies is is a massive, gravitationally bound system consisting more than 100 000 billion of stars, an interstellar medium of gas and dust, and dark matter. One of the galaxies is our galaxy called 'Milky Way'.  in milky Way consist  our solar system controlled by the biggest star called Sun. Our 'Milky Way' galaxy's diameter is about 100 000 year of light. Light's speed is 300 000 km per second.  in space other than earth, there's eight other planets were consisting in solar systems. the first planet (in increasing distance from the Sun) is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The Solar System also consists of the moons that revolve around some of the planets, asteroids, comets and meteors. The nearest planet (Mercury)  is about 57.9 billion km from the sun. Even the size of the sun is 110 times of our earth's diameter . Due to the research, other than Mars, other planets are not suitable for life. An Astronomer still do an investigation related to the life in Mars. Research has shown that has life in Mars such as vegetation. And even from our surface there's a layer called atmosphere. In Amosphere consist fives layer, Troposphere (10km from earth), Stratosphere (50 km from earth), Mesosphere (85-90km from earth), Thermosphere (500km from earth) and Exosphere (520 km and above). Above are our space.

This is wht've i got from some of my research. There's must be more information out there. So, just imagine how deep our earth and how far and big our space and how small we are...

  3. The highest that bacteria and virus have been found is about 15 km (9 miles) up (not counting stuff carried by man).  But "outer space" is not considered to start until you are 100 km up.

  4. Found by humans?  Um, at first guess I'd have to go with none in space.

  5. The Deepest part of the earth life is found is in the Mariana Trench which is located in the middle of the pacific, at a depth  of 36,090 feet ( 6.84 miles) life is at the most simplest of forms, these creatures depend on the volcanic ash vents for survival. These vents pore out an endless supply of nutrients that is collected buy different types of worms, erchants, crabs, and a bunch of different ''you name its''.

NO life has been found outside of earth but some scientists speculate good chances that there may be life on Europa. Europa is one of the Galilean moons of Jupiter, the sixth closest satellite (moon) to the planet, having a network of dark lines on a bright icy surface and a diameter of 1,951 miles.

These Dark lines indicate fractures caused by currents underneath the ice that completely surround the moon, which means that there is a liquid underneath the ice, which can only be water because no other substance can contain a frozen surface and a liquid center, no natural liquid known by man has these characteristics, life is possible in these conditions, earth her self has such environments that too sustain life.

Where there is water there is likely to be life, as far as what may exist is unknown you can only wonder what may lurk  in the dark corners of are solar system.     Hope that helps
