How far to Girona fron Barcelona, and what is the best means of transportation to get there?

It's about 40km and there is a bus (Barcelona Bus) which goes direct from placa catalunya, this bus will take you to either the airport (if that's the case you can get a discount with Ryanair) or to Girona city centre, which is really beautiful. There is a train but you have to go to Francia station and change in Granollers. I'd recommend taking the bus as it's not so expensive.

about 50 miles but I'm not sure of the best way to get there as far as trans is concerned

about 1 and and half hour in car if theres no traffic and in bus about 2 hours in train 1 and a half hours.
