Obviously I'm asking this for someone I know who's thinking of supporting them as they won the Premiership last year. He'll probably support Arsenal next year when they win it.

  1. Ooh, what an original question. Ok, let's see...when the fuel strike was at its height in 2001 and nobody was driving anywhere cos the fuel pumps were dry, United had their highest attendance of the season for a midweek game against those legendary crowd pullers Wimbledon. So all those daytrippers just walked it from Surrey did they?

Like most Prem teams we have our fair share of gloryhunters, but we despise them as much as others do-after all, they'r denying proper Reds match tickets. And they are usually from Cheshire, having discovered "soccer" after Euro 96.

So, remind me- which part of Norway do you have to be from to support Liverpool?

  5. I think it is about 230 miles from Croydon to Old Trafford.

  6. If you live in Salford. you are a local fan. They dont play in manchester.

  7. Stale...

  8. well, i live in california, along the pacific ocean.

manchester is in england, which is nearest to the atlantic ocean.

please do the math, and don't hurt yourself.

  9. i live in the u.s. and i support manchester united. so you can live anywhere in the world and support them :)

  10. It's nigh impossible to get tickets for their games so to actually support them as a paying fan is for the select and fortunate few.To support their style of play is obvious,no matter what your favourite team,if your a tv supporter you could be anywhere in the universe that picks up the transmission and maybe watching the likes of Best Charlton Law and all the greats for the first time.

  11. 5 minutes away in a car or walking distance.

    Salford lad.

The question is, how far away from the country do have to be from, to play for Arsenal or Chelsea?

  12. I don't understand this. How do you 'think of supporting' a team. It's like 'thinking about' being left handed. For a true supporter it is an illogical lifelong passion - if you have to think about it forget it.

As far as the location is concerned it is irrelevant. How far from Manchester must you be born to play for United? The big clubs raise money for players by marketing the team worldwide. Why should anyone look down their nose at a Spurs fan who lives in China or a Chelsea fan who lives in Israel?  These people provide a valuable income stream to our teams.

  13. plastic most of them

  14. All Egyptian boys ever talk about is Manchester United. I think they'd loose half their fans if they put a distance limit on it, lol.

  15. You can live everywhere and support your team more than some people from Manchester. If you love that club nobody can stops you

  16. I met a local guy in Indonesia who supported Man Utd. Does your friend live further away than that?  If so, maybe he's breaking the rules.

  17. Wow you really need to get out more. Don't you realise that there are actually people who support all the top teams int he Premiership simply because those teams excite them more than their country's top teams.

I've seen footage of Africans wearing Chelsea jersey's, i don't think they would have worn them 5 years ago, same goes for the amount of kopites in other countries and Gooners. Clubs have to make their money, its peoples right if they want to support a certain club.

  18. outside the city? otherwise you're supporting city... city! CITY!!!!!

  19. It's a free country.

Why don't you ask all those Scots why they support Arsenal and Chelsea?

Or is your bias total?  I doubt very much you are asking this for someone else.  You just haven't got the guts to take the flak when someone comes back at you.

You could always meet up with EURONOB.  It sounds like you'd enjoy making love to each other.

    Addenda:

    Sir XY.

    Top point.  Fair and balanced.

  20. what type of question is this????

firstly, u don need to live near Manchester to support United. u can be anywhere in the world to support whicever club u like.

secondly, clubs don't need supporters who support a club for the sake of recent glory..true supporters support their club cos of the love for the club...so i would suggest to your 'friend' not to waste time..and just support himself instead.

btw, how old are you again?
