  1. The Fire Code in Anchorage, Ak states that it must be 10 feet from any structure.  Do you have a fire extinguisher? Do you know how to use it? Enjoy your grill.

  2. Common sense would dictate that the grill needs to be far enough away that the heat will not melt the siding.  That distance will vary depending on the grill.  If you have one of those $4000 blast furnaces, I would recommend a minimum of 20' away.  For a standard gas grill, 10' should be more than sufficient.  For a charcoal grill, it would depend on the direction of the wind.  If it's blowing towards the house, I'd stay 10-15' away.  I use charcoal, and installed a 3' x 5' ceramic tile inlay on my deck for the grills.  They are about 18' from the house, and can't foresee ever having any problems with them.  Hope this helps.

  3. At least 3 feet. I found out the hard way just last week.  The vinyl siding started to buckle from the heat.

  4. i would say at three or four feet a few years back i built a deck for a customer and put new siding on his house a week after i had to go back and repair the siding where he had melted it because the grill was too close
