How far from a wall should a pool table be?

If you are even asking this question I suspect its is because your space is limited. So, what you really mean is, what is the minimum distance from the wall that you can build your table, that you can get away with.

Therefore, I offer this answer:

Measure the length of your longest cue, (probably 57"-59") then add 3" to 6" as minimum space required to draw the cue back to shoot a close to rail shot. Now, whatever is that figure, use it to measure from the playing face of the rail to surface of the wall. This is the minimum distance you can put your table close to a wall.

If the room space is still insufficient for using a regular cue as above then purchase a 48" short cue to have on hand for the close to rail shots and use the same procedure as above using the space you do have.

Im a tall dude so I would say between 4.5 to 6ft should be sufficient enough.

5-6 feet will allow most shooters ample room to make any shot.

Much less, and people will have trouble bumping the cue stick into the wall on the backstroke.
