How far in advanced should I start to plan my 16th birthday?

My birthday is in January, however everybody keeps asking me what I'm thinking about doing for it. Since its in January, I can't really do a picnic like my sister did for hers. But I really don't want a big party, I'm probably just going to have it at my house, because I want a car, not a big party. Another concern of mine, is that if I have friends and family at the same time, I sort of tend to not pay attention to my family, and thats not real cool.

Suggestions that I could do for a semi small house sweet 16 party?

go out to eat with your family the day before then party with your friends the day of... its never to early... i just started making plans for my 21st birthday... its not until christmas but i want to spend the day in the city ( as in new york city) and i need to get a hotel room and my friends and family on board

To address the family thing, i'd say have a small party with your friends and then go out to dinner/family get together the next day

well since your having a party just at your house you should just plan like 2 months before, and you should maybe have two seperate partys a small one for family, and then one for your friends.
