  1. JESUS!

What do you mean "Aguascalientes is in NO map"????????

Well, you got two excellent answers, Aguascalientes is TOO far from Cancún to come here (to Ags.) driving from Cancún, it takes (according to Comunications Secretary) almost 25 hours driving (without resting time).

To come to Aguascalientes from Cancún you should take a flight, but usually there are not direct flights, so you need either to make a connection at México city or go to León and from there a bus or a taxi to go to Ags.

On the other hand Aguascalientes IS on maps, but check the correct spelling: Aguascalientes (it is INCORRECT AguasCalientes, even it WAS two words, not the name of the state or the city).

This is the map of Aguascalientes state:

Point the México map to read the states names, so you will find Aguascalientes state (cancún is in Quintana Roo state):

This is the link to Aguascalientes State government (in english!)

This is a nice map of México, you can see Aguascalientes city, and main highways:

Since Aguascalientes is a very small state, very often its name is NOT written on maps (there is not space enough), it happens also with states like Tlaxcala, Morelos, Colima and Querétaro; it is the same to Rhode Island in the USA. Because of this, maybe you could find only abbreviation: Ags or ags (wich is "Aguascalientes"), english speakers trend to abbreviate Aguascalientes as "AGU", but here it is Ags. (including the dot "." many times=Ags.).

From Ags. we go driving to San Antonio or Houston, TX  (in USA) very easy, but never to Cancún.

  2. Aguascalientes is a state and also a city.  It is a loooong way from Cancun.  I would very strongly recommend that you NOT drive this if you have no experience driving in Mexico.  Mexican buses are luxurious and very modertely priced...you should take a bus.  See map below to see where Aguascalientes is in relation to Cancun.  The map says it is 22 hours driving time..however, I know from persoal experience that is is more like 28...that means at least 3 days driving.  you CANNOT drive after sunset in Mexico due to road conditions in many areas.  It is possible to drive in mexico safely, but the road signs are scarce, some roads are awful, and you must have a very calm patient  outlook.   Driving in Mexico is VERYchallenging...You will be MUCH happier on a nice comfy 1st class or luxury class bus...they are really comfy.  I  do hope you speak at least moderat Spanish, as you will need to change buses at least 2 or 3 tmes and will need toa  ask for help in the bus stations.  The bus stations in big cities are very nice and modern.  you could also consider flying to Aguascalientes...especially if you do not speak Spanish.

  3. it is quite far, aguascalientes is in the central northern part and cancun is way in the eastsouth

  4. 2,108.620 kilometers--does that help?

    20:45   hours of driving time.

And 1,666.0 pesos in highway tolls.

I used the website below.  Click on the link; then look for the words "Traza tu ruta" on the left-hand side--click that.

In the box "Estado origen:" select Quintana Roo, then wait a second for it to load the cities in that state.  Then select Cancun for the "Ciudad origen:."

Next, in the box "Estado destino:" select Aguascalientes, then wait a second for it to load the cities in that state.  Then select the city you're going to for the "Ciudad destino:."  Then click the button that says "CONSULTAR" at the bottom.  You'll get a map you can zoom in on and a list of every place or toll booth you'll travel through.

If you haven't driven in Mexico before, some words of caution.  DON'T DRIVE AT NIGHT.  Animals, people and vehicles without lights could be in your lane--your chances of hitting something is very high.  So since driving time is over 20 hours, you'll need at least one overnight stop.

If you're approaching a village look out for speed bumps.  There are usuallly two about seven feet apart.  If they are marked with a sign, it will be a black line with two bumps on it (or there may be the word "TOPES").
