How far is Irvine CA, to LA? ?

this may not make any sense. I plan to go there and see my pen friend who is at uni there. but while she is at uni i would like to go and see LA etc. is it far for me to go?

About an hour from UCI to downtown LA on Metrolink.

It's about a 45 minute drive depending on traffic.

You can also take the Amtrak from the Irvine station to LA. It drops you off across from Olvera St. and within walking distance of Chinatown and other downtown sites.

It really isn't too far but the traffic between the two locations is always heavy. Consider using the Metrolink rail system to make the trip which is quick, convenient and costs only about $7 each way. Connecting bus service is available on both ends as well. Good Luck!

About 40 miles.  Many people commute this every day.  It is heavy traffic, but so is everything here.
