  1. There are many trains you can take, I think there is a swiss train that goes direct. otherwise you will have to change probably in zurich. It will take about 5-7 hours depending on how long you stop at the boarder. probably it will cost around 300 USD round trip.

  2. If you have a car, apart from the obvious Brenner route, if you have some time, passing by Switzerland (near Lake of Constance) saves you lots of tolls and it's fun...

  3. i think its about 8/9 hours by train, and you can get there by train of course.

  4. The best option are still air: Air Berlin less than 40 Euros, twice per day connection 40 minutes flight,if you insist by land than other option is Ferrovia Italiana or D-Bahn, but 80 Euros and 6 hour of waste minimum, last option is by bus, 70-85 Euros and more than 7,5 hours of driving, do not forget trafic around Milan is always terrible and slow, especially on city limits and exits from high way. If you change your mind and you decide to fly after all you might check as well: Air Ryan, Hapaq Lloyd and you can do e-ticket via net.

  5. The German trains will take you there in 7h30mins (with a change in Verona) and it will cost you around 110 Euros...

  6. The most cost effective thing is to fly depending on when you are traveling.  Unless you want to see the countryside which is very pretty.
