If I stayed in Putney, how long would it take me to reach the main attractions of London?

From the  Putney Bridge Underground Station, take the District Line towards Upminster and disembark at Embankment Underground Station. You don't have to change trains, and travel time is 24 minutes. Embankment is the closest station to Trafalgar Square.

Assuming the place where you'll be staying at is close to East Putney or Putney Bridge stations, you'll be some 25-30 minutes from the city centre and many of the famous landmarks (Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street...), as well as from the many museums and galleries.
