How far is Staines from Bath Road Heathrow?

Question

What high street shops are there is Staines? I have two days free before a flight and would like to do some shopping, staying on Bath Road. What is the likely taxi fare? Already seen Hounslow..............

Staines isn't that far really about 20 minutes away by car.  To be honest the shops are pretty much the same as in Hounslow - High Street Stores.  If you've got two free days I'd suggest getting the tube at Heathrow and going somewhere a bit different for shopping like Notting Hill - You've got Portobello Road there, or Camden Town for the Market.  Or - if you prefer out of London - Windsor is only 20 minutes away aswell , its got some lovely shops - or Richmond - again you get get to it by tube - Heathrow - Hammersmith on the Piccadilly line and then the district line to Richmond - if you are going early morning you can change at Turnham Green in Chiswick.

Staines has virtually all the same stores as Hounslow - just laid out a bit different - has a shopping arcade (Elmsleigh Centre)  and an outdoor shopping area (Two Rivers)  

Bath Road Heathrow is a very long road and depending on where you are on it you are 5 or 6 miles to Staines town centre.

A Taxi would be quite expensive  but you could do it quite cheaply on public service buses  - - take any bus from your hotel into the Heathrow Central Bus Station and catch a 441 bus to Englefield Green - this stops at Staines Central bus station - it will also give you an opportunity  to get a close up view of the outside of the new terminal 5.

Also not very far from Bath Road Heathrow is Windsor Castle (home of the Queen) and the very interesting town of Windsor and the River Thames  - have you considered having a look around there ?
