Fast ferries (Balearia), approx 3 hours, which makes for a long day.  Better to stay overnight, especially if wanting to do some clubbing, and make a point of visiting Formentera, 30 minutes by ferry from Ibiza, to see how the Med used to be 30 years ago.

There are two crossings daily and depending how many people are travelling in your party, will determine the price.

My advice is allow at least one full day to sightsee Barcelona, and dont forget to visit Gaude's Cathedral..yet to be completed.
