Also, if you know, what was Arnage like in the early 1800's? Mostly farming? A tiny town? Thanks.

  1. Arnage, France to Le Mans, France is 6.34 miles (10,2 km).

    1. Head north on Avenue de la Paix toward Rue de l'Hôtel de Ville



    2. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto D140bis/D92/Rue de la Gare



    3. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Avenue Nationale/D147s

    Continue to follow D147s

    Go through 2 roundabouts

    4. At La Patte d'Oie d'Allonnes, take the 1st exit onto Boulevard Demorieux/D147s

    Continue to follow Boulevard Demorieux

    5. Continue on Rue Paul Courboulay

    6. Slight right at Quai Louis Blanc

    7. Turn right at Rue Wilbur Wright

    Takes about 15 minutes or so.

    Arnage is found in the Sarthe region. I could only find this one piece of information on the region not the city itself. There just isn't anything out there - lots on politics and the French Revolution but not on land use and economy for the area you want.  

    Up until the mid 1800's, more than 100,000 hectares of hemp was grown throughout France to produce linen, fabric, twine, rope, cordage, and natural oil (seed). At present, approximately 6,000 hectares of hemp are grown each year most in La Sarthe and La Loire
