Its not that far - about 15 minutes on the luas at most and 10/15minute walk to Spencer Dock if you are walking at a reasonable pace.

The most efficient way to get there is by Luas tram. The stop is outside Heuston station and you want a tram going to "Connolly" where you will get off. Walk back towards the Custom House and turn left after about 50 meters at Manor Street. This leads directly to a T-junction with Guild Street where you turn right and walk a short distance to the North Wall. Turn left where you will see a large lifting bridge - Spencer dock is the water to your left.

WOW... Needlessly complicated instructions.

From Heuston get the luas to busaras, that's less than15 mins. Then from busaras walk straight through the ifsc, and you'll get to spencer dock, about 5 mins.

So all in all about 20 mins.
