  1. You can check specific schedules and prices at either the German train website: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.e... or the Italian website: http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html - both have English interfaces.

There is no train that can get to to Milan in two hours. The fastest is the direct train leaving Munich at 1:31 pm and arriving in Milan at 8:45 pm (7 hr 14 min). This is also potentially one of the cheaper options. There are some tickets available at 53 euro. The normal fare is 96.90 euro.

Check the date you want to travel on both websites for the best price. The Italian website is offering a "Smart Fare" on this route for 29 euro for a 2nd class seat, but there are only a few seats on a given train at that price and they sell out fast. Right now there are seats available on the 18th of July for example.

If you want to go faster, you'll need to fly. The flying time is a little over an hour, but then you'll have to deal with getting to the airport in Munich early and getting from the airport to Milan on arrival. Other options will require at least one train change - typically in Verona.

I often take the train from northern Italy to Munich and back. The train leaves Munich from track 13 at the Hauptbahnhof station (the main station in Munich).

  2. The train that takes you from Munich to Milan in two hours has yet to be invented. That would take a plane.
