Seeing as how Burnaby and Vancouver have a common boundry (Boundry Road) it all depends where in Vancouver you are and at what time of day you wish to travel.  Rush hour in the morning is OK as you would be going against traffic but in the afternoon you would be going with traffic and therefore very busy.  Under normal conditions from downtown Vancouver to Metrotown Mall in Burnaby is about 20 minutes.
