  1. 564 kms....

It is about a 6 hour train ride with some changes. It is the best way to go.

Some say that there is no station in San Marino , but it an old post 2005.  There seems to be a train station in San Marino now. However, if you have problems  follow these directions below.

There is no railway system in the Republic of San Marino. The nearest train station is in the Italian city of Rimini, on the Adriatic coast. From Rimini there is a regular bus service to the Republic, departing from just outside the train station, and going all the way up to the historic centre of the city of San Marino, at the summit of Mount Titano. Well worth it.

You can buy the bus ticket at the yellow kiosk in the square.

The bus is the Bonelli Bus

    Fares:

from RIMINI (Railway Station – P.le Clementini – Arco d’Augusto)

to SAN MARINO – Euro 3.10

from RIMINI (Piazza Tripoli – Marina Centro – summer only)

    to SAN MARINO – € 3.36

    Additional...

Thanks Conley.... I was puzzled that some were saying there was not a train station in San Marino, but the train schedule says San Marino... Thanks for the clarification.

  2. There is no train to San Marino - the San Marino station on the Italian train website is a town on the train line between Venice and Trento. I was in San Marino last weekend for the Notte Rosse festival. The best way to get there is to take the train to Rimini. A round trip bus ticket to San Marino costs 7.40 euro. There's a ticket office to the left as you leave the station (it says "Bus Tickets"). The bus stop is across the street from the ticket office about 20 meters past the coffee shop. It's well marked. There are actually two different companies that run the buses - the tickets are good on any of the buses. The trip takes 45 minutes. There are brochures, bus schedules and other San Marino information on a rack in front of the tourist information building. The schedule is also here: http://www.cgi-bus.it/bonellibus/ click on Autolinee locali and then on Rimini - San Marino. The summer schedule (orario estivo) is active now.

When you get to San Marino, you can see San Leo from parking lot 1 - you can actually get some good photos of it even if it's hazy.

  3. About 564 kilometers
