vakayil must be kidding if he says walk from virar to CST - that is over 60 kms.  take a train to churchgate and then walk or take a cab.  this is the best way - train ride will be 10 mins and taxi ride another 10 mins or so (total distance about 6-7 kms).  u could also just take a cab from mumbai central and it will take 15 - 20 mins

You can travel from Mumbai Central to Virar and then either walk down or travel by taxi to CST.

Other way is to take a taxi from Mumbai Central to Byculla and then take a train to CST.

These two modes will be the fastest and you can reach within half an hour.

You can also travel from Mumbai Central to Dadar, cross over to central side and then board train for CST,
