Question:

How far is the METRO red line stop from Amtrak boarding at Washington Union station?

First time taking Amtrak from DC to NYC tomorrow morning.

I take the Red Line from Shady Grove to Union Station on the Metro.

Once at Union Station - I can't find a floor plan anywhere - how far is it to the Amtrak ticketing/boarding area? Is it all inside Union Station together?

Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated. We are taking one large bag apiece which will have to be checked.

Thanks

  1. You don't even have to go outside--there's a direct connection.  Just follow the signs or the people walking ahead of you.

You can get between the Metro platform and the Amtrak platforms in about four minutes of walking.

  2. There is an entrance to the station as you come out of METRO.  You are right there and it's clearly marked in the Station as you come out.

  3. If you get off at Union Station, and follow the escalators to the Mall level, you'll see signs for the Amtrak station.
