... And how do I get to/from the RER station when I arrive/depart from CDG Terminal 3? Is there a constant, free shuttle service that goes? I heard it is connected to T2 so will the shuttle take us to to T2 and then we make our way to the station. Are there any ticket purchases involved or is it all Free? We need to get to the RER station and buy train ticket (Paris Visite or Carte Orange).

  1. After you've retrieved your bags and gone through customs, look for a "Gare" sign with a train symbol. The shuttle buses run continuously and are free. (CDG has two RER stations: one at Terminal 1, which is accessible by covered walkway from Terminal 3, and the other at Terminal 2.)

At the RER station, you can buy tickets in two ways:

In the ticket office, where the clerks accept payment by cash or credit card.

From an "Île de France" ticket vending machine, which may or may not be compatible with foreign credit cards. (You'll have a better chance of success if you're using a European "smart" credit card with an embedded chip.)

(Although the Paris Visite transportation card (on sale at the ticket window) is valid for transportation to and from Charles de Gaulle Airport its really not a good buy unless you are planning only a short visit.)

Once you have your ticket, follow the signs to the platforms. Trains normally depart every 10 to 20 minutes between 5 a.m. and midnight.

If possible, take an express (direct) train, even if it means waiting a few minutes longer on the platform. Local trains stop at 10 suburban stations on their way into the city, adding 15 minutes or more to the normal 30-minute trip time.

  2. It's very easy and close. Just follow the sign " RER" and it's about 300-400 meters away. You obviously don't need to take a shuttle from Terminal 3.

You can buy tickets just in front of the RER entrance, either at the counter or with the automatic machine. Don't buy a Carte Orange for a tourist use. I think you can get more attractive offers.

  3. well the real problem is ....

there is no terminal 3 at CDG

    you have 1 , 2 A B C D E F and T9....

so the answer is couple of years until they build it...
