How far is the east from the west?

If you pointed a really powerful light in the direction of east and it goes through the atmosphere to space then would not east from west be infinate just as the universe is.

however travel due east or west would be infinite.. because you travel in a circle..

deviate from due east or west...and you are now pointing adifferent direction....
