The church wedding and the beautiful reception site are about a 1/2 hour drive. Is that too far? This is from Allen Park, MI to Plymouth, MI.

  1. If people are local and don't mind driving then it's ok. If they have had to drive already perhaps you could consider something closer, or providing a bus to the reception.

  2. I wouldn't think a half hour would be too much, just plan your schedule accordingly.

If it's back/country roads, all the better.  Time somehow goes faster when looking at the scenery.  (Just be sure to provide good directions!)

  3. I think any more than 20 minutes is asking too much. Also, anything with a ton of different twists and turns. Make it as easy on your guests as possible!

    Good luck!

  4. some people MIGHT complain amongst themelves but it shouldnt be too bad but something else to concider is that half hour is that during normal traffic? then factor in what time it will be after leaving the church...but one thing i cant stress enough is for the majority of your guests(because obviously you cant please evryone) is the church a short distance for most of them? because if the majority of your guests have to drive an hour hour and a half just for the wedding THEN and additional half hour to the reception that might cause problems but if most of the people are local i wouldnt worry about a half hour drive i wouldnt worry about it i know how it is to find that spectacular place thats beautyful available and affordable expecially if its something your in love with i would go with it follow your heart good luck and congratulations

  5. That is perfectly fine. Often we've been to weddings where we've had to drive across a city from one site to the other, and that can take longer than a half hour.

Plus, you'll be having hours of break between the ceremony and dinner, so you can get pictures done, so the guests won't be going directly from the church to the reception.

  6. Don't worry be happy.  Most weddings I have ever gone to were from 10 seconds to 45 minutes away.  Simply be clear about directions and you will have a wonderful day with people you love.

  7. I don't think half an hour is too long, but i wouldn't make it any longer than that. Also, Try not to take too much time with your pictures, because the long drive will make it seem like you're taking longer than you actually are. Other than that, i think it's ok, have a good time!

  8. If you can drive from Allen Park to Plymouth in 30 minutes then you have light traffic and a heavy foot.

  9. Not too far.

  10. I think people are generally happy to ake the effort, just be sure to make sure people know in advance so they can arrange there own mini busses or if your own budget llows a bus for everyone

    goodluck x
