  1. i dont know and i live at the shore lol im from toms river but i work in seaside and in 18 years iv never actually encountered a tornado here thank god!

  2. Tornadoes over water are called waterspouts. Waterspouts usually dissipate over land but there are a few times when they can stay onshore and produce a lot of damage. There's no exact time on how long they last. Tornadoes don't only form over water, they can form over land from thunderstorms and can affect any part of NJ and can last anywhere from a minute to an hour.

  3. Tornadoes by definition form over land, they don't "go onshore."  You're probably thinking about a waterspout.

  4. I saw a few tornado yesterday in Sea Side Heights NJ. One was far away and dark. I saw it from when it was very tiny and i watched it form till it touched the ground, and it looked thin because we werent that close. (i couldnt see it touched the ground but i saw pics of that torndao touching ground) Then it went away.  And it looked like it was over or just crossed the bridge coming towards Sea Side. Then everyone ran inside and i went back outside wit the workers and when i looked in the street, i saw another one and i saw this one touch. it was only 20 feet away from me and was also taking water from the water park i was in. then i rean back inside and stayed in longer. when i did come back out there was another one over the casino peir. i got a picture of that one. then as we were leaving the park, i saw 2 more forming it looked like over the water or on the peir. i couldnt tell if they touched ground/water or anything or not. but they got pretty far down. that was the first time i ever saw a tornado and im only 16.

  5. Tornadoes are extremely rare in New Jersey and when they do occur they are not very strong and are extremely localized.  Nothing compared to what they get in the Mid West.
