How far should I stand away from the eye chart?

If I want to give myself an eye test with an eye chart how far should I stand away form the chart.

20 ft. That's what creates the measurement 20/20 etc.

it depends on the SIZE of the letters on the chart.

if its a "real" eye chart, it'll tell you on the chart what distance its calibrated for.  most in the US are calibrated for either 10 or 20 ft

I do this all day long.  It is printed on the eye chart, most likely on the bottom/footer of the chart or in the bottom left hand side.  Schools offer a free test also in September.
