How far should a junior golfer be hitting the ball and scoring?

please answer im 13 and want to participate in some local tournaments. by how far i mean with a 3 wood 5 iron clubs like that. and also whats a good score for a par 72 (18 hole)

  1. Hi. I'm 13 too and I play in many tournaments. I hit my 3 wood about 200 yards and hit my 5 iron about 155. Anywhere under 82 is a good score for about 6000 yards for 18 holes. Just keep practicing and remember, its not how far you hit the ball, its how good your short game is.


  2. It doesn't matter how far you hit it, as long as you hit it down the middle, and hit greens in regulation. Thats the key to lower scores.

    Tourneys at age 13... I would say 5 or 6 over would be competitive...

  3. Golf is not about how far you hit the ball, only about how many times you hit it.  A good score would be under 80 for par 72 at age 13.

  4. i'm 13, and I agree that it has nothing to do with how far you hit it, it is all about your short game. remember that the 300 yard drive is the same number of strokes as the 1 putt. practice your short game. And a good score for 13 on a par 72 is about 75-85 or so, depends on the length of the course
