If you knew something you wanted was on sale - how far would you travel to buy it if you could buy it for more expensive at a closer location?

  2. I would factor the cost of transportation (read: gas cost) into the amount the item was discounted. If the cost of transportation is equal to or greater than the discount then it is not worth the sale.

    The other factor here is cost of time. I consider my time valuable, so if it requires a lengthy time to get to the sale (traffic, distance) then it becomes a less valuable discount.

  3. I would not go far. Prices of gas are going up  and if I want to drive my car, then going shopping is out of the question.
