I have lots of time and I think it will be great to take a ship, but how fast are they? how many days or weeks do they need, and how much does it costs to cross an ocean?

  1. It would take about 5 days to get from London to New York. The cost of that voyage would depend upon the class of your cabin and upon the deck which you chose.  You would have to consult a travel agent for that information.

  2. The Cunard liners Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mary II both take 6 days to cross the Atlantic. Go to the URL shown below and it will take you to Cunard's website and you can find all about sailing with them.

There are also cargo ships that will take passengers, but I would not recommend them for a woman traveling alone.

    Regards,

    Dan

  3. A displacement hull will travel at "Hull Speed"

Hull speed (in knots) = square root of waterline leingth times 1.34
