but he's not good at the 50 free, hes not a sprinter, especially a free sprinter..thats why they put him first in the relays

I think its like 22 LCM but remember that he is not a sprinter hes more distance.

Michael Phelps lead off the 4 x 100 free relay earlier this week in an American Record 100 free split and was .01 seconds off the previous World Record. I don't think it's an accurate statement to say he's not a sprinter.

Since he hasn't swum the 50 meter freestyle in competition over the past 12 months we can safely say his best time in the 50 is 23.31 (his split on the relay).

I agree that he can swim it in under 23 seconds if he chose to enter that event though. If he chose to concentrate on this race I wouldn't put it past him to win a medal in it though.
