Question:

How fast can a Civic Si go?

Honda claims that a civic si has a 0-60 time of 6.7 seconds although some sources say they have done it in 6.2.

Would a turbo get that down to less than 5? What do you think?

  1. It tops out in the low 130s.  I doubt anybody did 0-60 in 6.2 on a stock one.  You would need a huge turbo and a lot of other upgrades to get it to do 0-60 in less than 5 sec.

  2. The top speed for the 2007-2008 Honda Civic Si is governed at ~135mph.

I prefer to use quarter mile instead of 0-60mph.

The main reason is that in the case of this car you need to shift two gears to get there. (unless you have the Hondata reflash that raises the Rev Limiter and allow you to get 60mph in 2nd gear)

Lets see the case of the Z06 vs Nissan GTR. The GTR has a slightly  better or equal 0-60mph time compared to the Corvette. But after the 60mph the Corvette began to pull away from the GTR. GTR Fans this is not a theory or something of my imagination there are many videos out there that proves it.

Another case is AWD cars who are notorious for their hard/fast launches that help them achieve crazy 0-60mph times but if they go against a 2WD car with very close 0-60 times (slower) they end up badly beaten.

With quarter miles if you have two cars with very close times but one traps higher mph at the end of the line and in addition to that is a bit slower than the other you can be sure that if the track is a bit longer the "slower" one will take the faster one easily.

Now I ask you which is a more faster car?

    Back to the main question.

A stock Civic SI can do between low 15's to high 14's on average @ 93-95mph. How that is equal in 0-60mph I really don't care I stated the reason a few sentences above.

A simple force induction kit (s/c or turbo) can take you easily to low to mid 13's @ ~105mph or more. Enough to keep up with stock EVO, STI, old Vettes, etc.

It has been proven already many times that you don't need Forced Induction on the Civic Si to hit the 13's. It only takes a well skilled driver and a few addons.

In my opinion beating turbo cars naturally aspirated is more enjoyable than using a turbine.

  3. had mine to 180, but that was downhill with a tail wind....
