  1. Actually, oikos, though I agree with most of your answers, Johnston's crocs DO gallop. At about 10 miles per hour or so depending on who you listen to. Lemme see if I can find a video clip of it... it's cool stuff.

    At a short distance, particularly large crocodiles can run as fast as a racing horse (roughly 25 - 30MPH!)

  3. In a gallop, all four feet are off the ground at the same time. Crocs do not gallop.

  7. they go 12-14mph for short periods of time.  this is not their best defense.  they are more comfortable as ambush preditors in teh water were you can't see them.
