  1. As fast as you can drive.  That is the point of the Autobahn.

    Good Luck...

  2. "The" autobahn is actually many roads much like our interstate system. Most of the time, there is no limit (though the "recomended" maximum is 120 kilometers per hour (about 72 mph). There are many places where there is an enforced speed limit, like congested areas, more curvy places, etc. Also, there are signs (like LED light signs) that may dictate that you go more slowly to avoid traffic jambs (stau in german) or if the weather is bad.

So, in general... go like heck (142 mph is my max), but watch out for signs. BTW, in the military, stationed in Germany for about 6 years.

  3. In areas not within city limits, there is usually no speed limit on the Autobahn, with a recommended speed of 130 km/hr, or 78 mph.  But within city limits, the speed limit is usually between 100 and 120 km/hour, (60-72 mph).  In the state of Bremen, the speed limit is 120 no matter where you are.  A lot of people think there are no speed limits at all, but really, about 40% of the Autobahn has speed limits.
