  1. About 550 mph is very typical, but the actual speed varies considerably based on many factors.  At 550 mph, the aircraft will cover 275 miles in half an hour.

The maximum speed of an aircraft depends on its design, but it's unrelated to size.  In fact, the fastest jet airliner currently in service is the 747.  However, most airlines do not fly their aircraft at maximum speeds because they are trying to save on fuel, and flying at top speed uses a lot of fuel.  Indeed, the 747 is fast mainly because it was designed at a time when fuel cost a lot less, and airlines were more willing to fly fast.  More recent airliners aren't designed to go as fast.

  2. Around 500-550mph. And the A380 is about as fast as the 777.

  3. approximately 600mph top speed

  4. It depends on the airplane.  Turboprop commuter airplanes cruise at about 300 MPH, whereas larger pure-jet airliners cruise at about 500-570 MPH.

There is no fixed relationship between Mach numbers and airspeed, so you can't say Mach so-and-so equals so many MPH.  It varies with barometric pressure and temperature.

The A380 and the 777 operate at comparable speeds.

  5. The bigger stuff tends to fly a little faster ie: a 777 cruises about 25 or 30 kts faster than a 737. The A380 is right up there with the fastest of the commercial planes.

A 777 cruise speed is listed as .84 mach which is 557 mph. An A380 cruises at .85 mach which is about 560 mph.

  6. Around 550 mph maximum , but many times they fly slower because of scheduling.

  7. Most large commercial airliners can reach about 570 mph. Their sizes may vary, but they all have similar thrust to weight ratio. Basically if you are in an A380 they have larger engines to make up for all of the extra aircraft and passenger load then the 737 has, which has less powerful engines for less weight.

  8. around 500 MPH. and no, they just have bigger engines
