  3. When I dropped some plates in the kitchen, they moved pretty fast!

    Oh! you mean tectonic (continental) plates!  Why didn't you say so then?  Some move too slowly to measure, some move as fast as 100 mm per year.  I think the fastest is about 250 mm per year.

  5. The tectonic plates are moving at different rate at different places.It is maintaining the range of 50 to 100 mm per year.
