speed in mpd would be nice. Say in New York. It appears to be rather fast, but i have my doubts how objective that is.

  1. pretty fast

  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_M... The cars are 72 feet long and 9.5 feet wide and have a top speed of over 70 mph

  3. Faster than a speeding bullet.  Not really, but I bet New Yorkers would be happy if they did.  I would hate to have to take a subway to work.

  4. The DC Metro has the orange line in the median of  I66 so you can see the cars driving on a parallel route at about the same speed.  The speed limit is 55 so the subway is probably going between 50 and 60 mph.  This is a long straight route in the open so is probably at the faster end of its normal speed range. It goes much slower on some of the curved sections or when the stations are closer together.

  5. pretty rapidly i would think

  6. In New York City, the speed limit on most of the subway system is 55 mph (88 kph), but most train operators maintain a speed of about 30 to 40 mph (50 to 60 kph), just to be on the safe side and to allow for smooth breaking.

  7. like, really fast!!!!

  8. Top speed is anywhere from 55 mph up 72, depending on track conditions and whether the motors are governed or not.

  9. Subways don't move, but subway trains/cars do.
