  1. Trains have a Maximum Authorized Speed (track speed) for a stretch of track (example Mile Post x to Mile Post x), but can be limited by a restricting signal (signal speed).

In the DC area (outside the city, going north), on the North East Corridor, you may reach up to 110 or 125 miles per hour.

South of DC on the route to Florida, I believe the speed has to be kept 79 or below because of the lack of high-speed signals.

  2. they go veryveryvery fast and they willlll make u veryveryvery sick u will throwup everywhere!!!!

  3. The fastest train  in USA is the Acela Express between Boston and Washington DC which reaches a top speed of 150 mph on 2 short stretches of track in RI and Massachusetts.

  4. Could be well over 100mph (think the Acela and Japanese bullet trains) but most local regulations keep the speed of trains much lower as they pass thru different municipalities, etc..

The Nord-Europe line connects the City of Light to Lille, in France, then on to Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, or across the Channel to the UK through the Chunnel. These trains maintain an average speed of 157 miles per hour.

The Japanese Shinkansen line has a top speed of 186 miles per hour, the Shinkansen Bullet Train averages 162 miles an hour between Hiroshima and Kokura stations.

  5. 420 mph

ya  new magnetic train of japan touches the same highest speed.

  6. probably not, trains go different speeds but most go as fast or a little faster than a car. the washington acela express trains do go quite faster though.  but there are steady so you should not get sick

  7. Once again DTTRR89ACE has beaten me to the punch.  (Don't you ever sleep?)  As a small addendum, the high speed signals he is talking about are called "cab" signals.  This is a vertical array of lights in the locomotive cab that duplicates and displays the signals that the train is running under or toward.  Very handy when running in the fog.

Without them, trains are limited to a maximum of 79 MPH.

    Stay out of the way.

  8. no its just like riding in a car, most amtrak trains go 65-70 mph. they have speed limits too you know!

  9. Standard rail trains have acheived over 280 mph, as far as I know.

  10. The movement in a DC train shouldn't make you sick. The fear of travelling with the leaders of our country all around you should scare the helloutta you.

  11. If Doc and Marty are on it 88 mph. LOL.

You will only get sick if you have motion sickness. If you can travel i a car you should be fine. But I'm not 100% sure.
