Question:

How fast does Etrade get your "sell" order and actually sell your stock?

I have an etrade account but have never sold any of my stock with it. How long does it take for E-Trade to get my "sell" order and actually sell my stock, and I'm assuming there is someone who wants to buy it. For instance if I had $200 worth of PandG stock and I put an order in to sell it because it went up in price, how long would it take E-Trade to sell it.

The reason I ask is because I want to know how close to the closing bell I can put in my sell order on E-Trade and still have it sold that day.

  1. The industry standard is about 30 seconds, but my experience with etrade has had it usually quicker than that except in times of extreme volume.  Never more than 30 seconds though, if someone is willing to buy at your price of course.

  2. A market order is very frequently executed within just a few seconds.  Call it 10 to 15.

  3. E*trade usually shows my " orders" filled before I can even click over to  " transactions" ( to check exact price)...as far as trading close to the bell...you'd be best to give yourself at least a couple of  minutes.

  4. once recieved then entered within 90 seconds through souse
