  1. Depends on the style {design of the hull}  weight to be carried and the type of s***w {propeller} the drives the boat.

  2. It all depends on the boat and it's running surface.

I would guess 5.6 to 6 miles per hour or displacement speed.

If the motor is powerful enough maybe 10 miles per hour with a flat bottom boat.

  3. As a kid I fished all over the state of Louisiana in a 14 foot flatbottom aluminum jonboat powered by a 6hp evinrude motor.

No speedo of course, but I recall judging the speed based on how fast I could go on my bicycle.  Seems like it was between 15 & 20 mph with just myself, six gallons of gas and some fishing equipment, in ideal conditions.  Adding another body, slowed me down considerably.

A v-hull wouldn't go that fast, neither would a fiberglass boat.  Interestingly, a 10-foot flatbottom jon wouldn't go that fast either -- it just wouldn't plane out.

If it's just you, put the fuel tank in the middle of the boat to help it plane out easier, and experiment with the trim rod.

  4. Probably fast!

  5. Horses can't pull a boat in the water  .  .  .

    Silly goose!

It's all power-to-weight ratio, engine configuration, prop rake and hull streamlining.

In other words, until you get in the boat and grab a handful of throttle, you won't ever know for sure.
