Really depends on a lot of factors. There is no straight answer but most of the time, a cruise speed in the range of 590 to 650 mph. That translates into roughly Mach 0.79 to Mach 0.85.

When your pilot is late to get off work and is heading to his home base? Thunderstorm delay. You just sat on the runway for an hour on a 1-1/2  Hour flight. After a steeper than normal take off and an a lot of engine noise more than normal. Sitting in the middle of the plane MD-80 air craft I began to notice lots of rumble noise from wind and air flow around the nose of the plane. Total air time 45 minutes on a 90 minute flight I extimated the air craft speed at almost 560 miles an hour arrived in Oklahoma City only 15 minutes late. While not supersonic jet air craft are fast.

General cruise is about .76-.78 Mach.  RJs go slower, a lot slower.  And when late or the last leg, we'll push it up.

Many private jets are M.82+ and top out at M.92.
