  1. Voice is converted to an electric signal. thus will travel down the wire at the speed of light, ie. 300,000km/sec. (or 187,500 miles/sec.).  All electric signals (or power) travel at the speed of light through conductors.


  2. Actually, it will travel at slightly less than the speed of light, due to issues of wire resistance, length, and delay, among analog to digital, and digital to analog conversions along the way.
