  1. Between the first 2 and 8 months of its life an Oscar fish will grow ~ 1inch per month! After this it really depends of the size of the tank you are keeping the Oscar in and the quality of the food you are feeding.

  2. pretty darn fast. don't keep it in anything less than 40 gallons, even if it's temporarily. you could preobably keep it in a 40g tank for about 3 years, max. it depends on how big it is when you get it. i reccomend you get a 55-60+ gallon tank so you don't have to worry about upgrading later on.

    good luck :)

  3. FAST

can go from 2 to 8 inches in about 6 months

    edit

a 55 isn't even really big enough, you're dealing with a fish that can get 14-16 inches and you want to house it in a 12'' wide tank? they wouldn't even be able to turn around

but.. i did make the mistake of putting my first oscar directly into a 75.. just hid in the corner and couldn't seem to find the food

starting them in something like a 29-30 would be good untill they are 4-5 inches then locating them into a 75+

you could use the smaller tank for breeding guppies or as a community tank

  4. i feed mine twice a day and he grows a lil more every week.lol hes the size of my hand now ive had him since may when he was only a 2incher i'd recommend a 75gallon tank because its gonna get big .lol
